The parade started at 2pm (according to the 4th of July Poster) and didn't start near the library (where Evelyn was murdered). If a suspect was at the parade when it started, this would be a good alibi.

Examine the parade pictures in the Saguaro Sands Newsletter carefully.

The Saguaro Sands Newsletter shows that the first residents who got to the parade got free flags. Diane said she was at the parade and got a free flag, but her flag does not look like the flags that were handed out at the parade (compare it to the picture of "Gary Holt" holding his flag in the Saguaro Sands Newsletter).

Diane lied about her alibi, and the two relevant pieces of evidence are the Small American Flag and the Saguaro Sands Newsletter.
